Key findings
Muslims and Roma are the groups most often rejected by the Latvian population in different contexts of interaction. Various opinion polls have consistently pointed to a high level of social distance from Muslims. The survey data shows that 28.2% of the Latvian population would not want to work with a Muslim as a colleague; 56.3% would not want them to become a child's spouse; 34.5% could not imagine having such a person as a close friend; 28.4% would not want such a person to live next door; 26.4% would not want them to live in our country at all; and 56.1% could not accept them as the president of their country.
